This Month's Artist Details:

WAKE UP AND LISTEN

Wake Up And Listen (aka WUAL) is a band that specializes in surreal, improvised, collage-based music. It has been active in Sydney, Australia, since 1991. Though members Shannon O'Neill and Adrian Bertram are perhaps now equally well known for their solo work (both in their own names and under pseudonyms such Lieutenant Colonel Spastic Hotwitzer), when they come together its a whole different story.

PHILASOPHIGAS

Philasophigas is a diverse and multitalented artist, so he says. The name was born out of a need for something to go on flyers when he played his first "party" as an electronic musical artist in 1998. His background in short lived sydney pub bands in the preceding six years helped to create an original electronic sound that was used to warm up and chill out Sydney dance parties between 1998 and 2002 when he self released his self titled debut. Since then the electronic artist side of Philasophigas has been in hiatus only stepping out for Electrofringe `02 and `03. Instead he has been returning to his rock roots with the Sydney bands "The Mistakes" and "Little Aida", currently performing at various venues around the inner city.

Disorientation is the second recent performance for Philasophigas as he reinvents himself again with two discmans and a microphone. Expect electro-pop songs, ambience and quirky beats in a thoroughly unprofessional yet highly engaging performance.

ALEX DAVIES

In recent times Mr. Davies has been focusing on his gallery work, including the stunning installation "Swarm" that was shown at Artspace here in Sydney as well as at ACMI in Melbourne. However, he is also an accomplished performer and his appearance at Disorientation, where he will be presenting two audiovisual works, is a rare chance to see him in action.

An as yet unidentified organism, its performance is trying to be classified currently.
